Predictive Testing

At Goulston, we have a major commitment to the development of laboratory based predictive testing in order to reduce costly development cycle times. These tests range from sophisticated friction, static and cohesion measurements to heat stability, smoke characterization and finish uniformity. Our technical team uses this data to predict the performance of the lubricant or melt additive and the fiber from manufacturing to final end-use, thereby reducing expensive, large-scale process evaluations.

Examples of Goulston's state-of-the-art testing capabilities include:

Thermostability:
• Sophisticated smoke tests that include smoke profile and smoke particle size determinations.
•  Advanced thermal characterization including oxidative stability and residue generation behavior.

Frictional Characterization:

•  Newly developed test equipment and capabilities including process friction simulation, new approaches to boundary lubrication testing and innovative testing for fiber cohesion properties.
•  Advanced rheometric capabilities to study the flow and shear structure of fiber finishes.

High-Speed Imaging:

Direct imaging capabilities to provide a visual characterization of dynamic processes ranging from finish applications to finish sling.
